photoclub- the dark room

i haven't been posting any posts on my blogs for a long time. sorry about that... :)

today i'll be blogging about this activity that I do at school. It's called photo club... So technically it's a activity where you get to go into a dark room and use all sorts of cool cameras and photography techniques.
If you haven't been to a dark room before. this is how one looks like.

well it is a room, for developing photographs with many chemicals. There is a wet side and a dry side. The dry side consists of enlargers, which are light showing things, and the wet side consists of chemicals: develop, stop and fix.

So what I did in the photo club was take some photo paper, put it on the wooden board under the enlarger, put some stationary on the paper and let the light on for 7 seconds. This exposes light, which made the photo.

I then put the empty white  photo paper , which actually had a print on it and put it in the 'develop' chemical for a minutes, the photo started to show, but in negative. then I put the photo paper in the 'stop' chemical, which stop the develop from reacting for 20 seconds. This was followed by putting the photo paper in the 'fix' chemical for 3 minutes. Lastly, I put the paper in water to let it wash off all the chemicals for 5 minutes.

I let the photo paper dry and...ta-da! my photo was done!! XD
As you can see, the photo is in negative. which is really cool, coz if you see closely, you can see my protractor , and only the numbers are visible.

After this, we were going to reverse the photo into positive form.

This was done by putting the photo down on top of a clean piece of photo paper. Then, i turned the enlarger on for 9 seconds and then did the stuff with the chemicals.

i then got....
this...

thats all for today, remember i didn't use a camera.. :P
